Kever Genever is created in January 2015 by four friends after enjoying Christmas 🎄 back in the 🇳🇱 . One night at their University clutching a bottle containing Old Genever👯‍♀️, they began to wonder why this Dutch national drink had lost its popularity. That night, in a cold student flat in Sweden, Kever Genever was born✨! But what is Genever actually? Genever is Dutch for “juniper.” Just because it is juniper-dominated, don’t go thinking of it as Dutch gin. Genever is a clear, botanically rich, malted grain-based spirit that can only be made in 🇳🇱 or 🇧🇪 . It is a blend of two or more distillates: first, a whiskey-like triple distillate made of corn, wheat, and rye (so-called malt wine). Second, a juniper-infused distillate. A possible third part can consist of malt wine re-distilled together with different botanicals. Essentially, you can think of Genever as the lovechild of a marriage between whiskey and gin😍. People love gin and whiskey, so combining flavors of both is bound to be absolute perfection in a glass, or, at least, certainly authentic🧐.


Eventually two old-style Kever Genevers were launched, containing each a high amount of malt-spirit. I’m presenting you a cocktail containing one of them: the Crisp & Hoppy Kever Genever, which is fruity, refreshing and your beers best friend, (yes you are reading that right, also perfect to combine with your favorite Weizen). You will taste hints of tropical fruit and a slight citrus-bitterness of the hops. Made with distillates of hops, timut pepper, pineapple and juniper. This drink is one full of flavours, do you enjoy a nice little strong sip, then this one is one for you😈.



60ml Crisp & Hoppy Kever Genever (https://kevergenever.com) 15ml Cardamaro (find this one in Gigi Leuven) 15ml Red vermouth Helmut (https://www.helmut-wermut.de/) 2 Dashes Hopped grapefruit bitters (Bittermens) Garnish: Grapefruit slices Grapefruit zest Juniper





Add everything to you mixing glass and fill up with ice. Stir. Strain into a coupe and garnish. Cheers! 💁🏼‍♀️
